The Barbell Lying Triceps Extension, also known as Skullcrusher, is a strength exercise that primarily trains the muscles in the triceps. It is important during this exercise to keep your elbows close together and your upper arms perpendicular to the ground. Avoid swinging motions and perform the exercise slowly and controlled to achieve the best possible result.
Start by lying on a flat bench and taking a barbell with a narrow grip (hands shoulder-width or closer). Extend your arms perpendicular to the ground, the barbell should be directly over your forehead.
Slowly bend your elbows and lower the barbell behind your head until it is near the bench. Make sure your upper arms remain perpendicular to the ground and your elbows do not drift apart.
Pause briefly at the bottom and then slowly press the barbell back to the starting position.
