Single Power Clean (Dumbbell)

The Dumbbell Single Power Clean is a dynamic exercise focusing on explosive power, primarily targeting the shoulders, arms, back, and legs. It's a variation of the traditional power clean but performed with a dumbbell, making it accessible for various training environments. Focus on form and fluidity of movement rather than speed when starting out. Ensure you're comfortable with the motion before increasing weight or speed.

  1. Stand with your feet shoulder-width apart, a dumbbell on the floor beside one foot.

  2. Bend at the hips and knees to grasp the dumbbell with one hand, palm facing your body.

  3. In a swift, explosive motion, lift the dumbbell by extending your hips and knees.

  4. As the dumbbell ascends, shrug your shoulder and then bend your elbow to guide the dumbbell up to your shoulder in a "clean" motion.

  5. Rotate your wrist as you lift, so your palm ends up facing your shoulder, and catch the dumbbell in the front-rack position (at shoulder level, close to your chest, with your elbow pointing forward).

  6. Lower the dumbbell back to the starting position in a controlled manner, preparing for the next repetition.
