Tire Flip

The Tire Flip is a functional exercise that involves flipping a tire over. Note that the Tire Flip is a demanding exercise requiring good body strength and control. Start with a lighter tire and progressively increase to ensure you are developing the correct technique and strength.

  1. Stand with your feet shoulder-width apart behind the tire. Slightly bend your knees and squat down to generate good leverage.

  2. Grasp the tire with both hands at its sides. Keep your arms extended and your hands around shoulder level.

  3. Explosively press up with your legs and pull the tire upwards with your arms. Make sure to use the power from your legs and hips, not just pulling with your arms.

  4. As the tire gets airborne, push it forward with a quick, powerful shove. You may either roll the tire forward or flip it over, depending on what works best for you.

  5. Keep your body stable throughout the movement and ensure your back remains straight. Avoid excessive rounding of the back.
