Deadlift (Barbell)

The Deadlift exercise is a strength exercise that primarily trains the leg muscles as well as the lower back and shoulder muscles. It resembles the regular deadlift but is performed with an upright torso and an explosive jerk to bring the barbell to the upright position. It is important to maintain correct form throughout the exercise and choose an appropriate amount of weight for your fitness level to prevent injuries.

  1. Begin in an upright position with the barbell on the ground in front of you and your feet shoulder-width apart.

  2. Grip the barbell with a grip that is slightly wider than shoulder-width.

  3. Lower your body while still holding the barbell firmly until your thighs are parallel to the ground.

  4. Keep your back straight and your weight on your heels.

  5. Jerk upwards in an explosive push while bringing the barbell to your upright position.

  6. Keep your arms straight and your shoulders pulled back as you bring the barbell in front of your body.

  7. Lower the barbell back to the ground in a controlled manner and repeat the exercise.
