Thruster (Dumbbell)

Thruster combines a front squat with an overhead press, engaging the legs, core, shoulders, and arms. This dynamic compound movement enhances cardiovascular fitness, builds strength, and improves explosive power.

  1. Stand with feet shoulder-width apart, holding a dumbbell in each hand at shoulder level, palms facing each other.

  2. Lower into a front squat, keeping the dumbbells at shoulder height, elbows pointing forward.

  3. Descend until thighs are at least parallel to the floor, keeping the chest up and back straight.

  4. Drive through your heels to stand up, using the momentum to press the dumbbells overhead in one fluid motion.

  5. Extend your arms fully, locking out the elbows at the top.

  6. Lower the dumbbells back to shoulder height as you simultaneously descend into the next squat.

  7. Transition smoothly between the squat and press for subsequent reps.
