Bench Press - Wide (Barbell)

Barbell Wide Bench Press is a strength exercise that primarily trains the chest muscles. It is important during this exercise to keep your shoulders stable and to actively engage your chest muscles to prevent injuries. Perform the exercise slowly and controlled and avoid swinging motions to achieve the best possible result.

  1. Lie flat on a bench and grasp the barbell with a wide grip, your hands slightly more than shoulder-width apart.

  2. Position the barbell directly over your chest and keep your arms extended.

  3. Take a deep breath and slowly lower the barbell to the middle of your chest. Make sure to keep your elbows out to focus on your chest muscles.

  4. Then press the barbell up through your chest muscles as you exhale.

  5. Hold the position briefly and then lower the barbell back down in a controlled manner.
